FUMEY-CHATELAIN
In the mid-1980s, Raphaël and Adeline started their business of producing/selling grapes in the Jura with 56 acres of vines.
Everything was working like clockwork until, in the spring of 1991, a terrible frost ravaged 95% of the Jura vineyards. There were so few grapes left on their vines that they decided to vinify the wine themselves and sign their first vintage.
The first cuvées will be made right and left by borrowing cellars and unused barrels from other winegrowers of the Raphaël family. Their farms developed little by little until in 1999 they acquired a ruined farmhouse in Montigny-lès-Arsures This farm, after a lot of effort and elbow grease, became the perfect place to welcome their family and cellar.
Today the Fumey-Chatelain totals 17 hectares of vines and their son Marin, after having vinified several times in Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, has joined the wine-making team full-time.
The Fumey Family has redoubled their efforts to progress each year, with the desire to produce vibrant, complex and lively wines.
The vines are cultivated with respect for the environment they grow and rigorous work in the vineyard allows them to vinify their wines naturally. Enthusiastic and passionate, the Fumey-Chatelain wines reflect the energy that guides us.
