Domaine de la Mordoree La Reine des Bois 2005
The estate owns some 60 hectares (148 acres) of vineyard land spread throughout 38 plots in Tavel, Lirac, and Châteauneuf-du-Pape, as well as in the surrounding countryside. Large and rounded stones are found throughout the vineyards, akin to much of the greater Côtes du Rhône. These stones prevent evapotranspiration and encourage sunlight penetration into the canopy.

Winemaking and Maturation
Domaine de la Mordorée employs traditional and modern winemaking techniques in the winery. Grapes are destemmed as they arrive at the winery and fermented in both stainless steel tanks and small oak barrels. The wines are aged in new French oak and stainless steel vats before release.
Tasting Notes
A big, full-bodied, structured effort, its inky purple color is followed by a terrific bouquet of ripe black fruits, toasted spice, graphite, chocolate and garrigue. Made from 80% Grenache, 10% Mourvèdre and the rest 5% Vaccarèse, brought up 30% in barrels and 70% in stainless steel, it will have another 10-15 years of prime drinking.
