Génot-Boulanger Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru La Garenne 2023
Domaine Génot-Boulanger began in Meursault in 1974. Today, Aude and Guillaume Lavollée farm 22 certified organic hectares across three Burgundy regions. In addition, gentle cellar work helps each wine show its vineyard clearly.
Vineyards
La Garenne sits high on the Puligny-Montrachet slope, beside the forest and near Blagny. The domaine farms 0.37 hectares of 1991 Chardonnay over limestone, white stones and fossil shells. Because the site sits high, it gives the wine bright acidity and fine detail.
Winemaking and Maturation
First, the team hand-picks and gently presses the whole bunches. Then, fermentation starts in oak without an early sulphur addition. Next, the wine spends 12 months in barrel with 10 to 15% new oak, plus six months in steel. Finally, the team bottles it without filtration.
Tasting Notes
Green apple, chamomile and flint open the aroma. Then, nectarine, peach, wild rose and soft incense add detail. The clean palate brings lively acidity and a delicate frame. Finally, quiet mineral strength shapes the balanced finish.
