product description
Jean-Michel Gerin Côte-Rôtie La Viallière 2023
Vineyards
La Viallière, Ampuis, Côte-Rôtie, northern Rhône, France. This single-site Syrah comes from steep slopes with mica-schist soils. The estate began planting the site in 2003.
Winemaking and Maturation
The fruit is harvested by hand and fully destemmed. Fermentation and maceration are followed by maturation in demi-muids, larger oak barrels that help develop texture without overwhelming the fruit.
Tasting Notes
Cherry and floral aromas meet hints of smoke and cocoa. A fleshy palate and ripe tannins give this single-site Syrah depth, with a smooth texture and lingering spice.
