Winemaking and Maturation
Krug 2006 is the delectable story of a mercurial year in Champagne, with extreme high temperatures and weather that oscillated from dry periods to intense rainfall. Marked by an intense, generous, enveloping and elegant melody, this champagne is nicknamed “Capricious Indulgence” by the Tasting Committee. Krug 2006 is an elegant and round blend of Pinot Noir (45%), Chardonnay (35%) and Meunier (20%).
Tasting Notes
‘Light golden yellow, with silver reflections and a fine, lively mousse. Nuances of fresh, bright cherry, greengage, white flowers, fine pastry, a touch of fruit cake, orange marmalade and some honey. Powerful, equipped with fine fruit expression and subtle nougat, it is textured and round.
The wine has a fine acid structure, minerality, discreet fruit, a breath of smoked bacon, mocha and caramel in the echo. It is a great, complex food companion, already very gluggable. It is salty, textured, very long and nevertheless very light-footed and lively, a textured food companion with definite ageing potential.’ – Falstaff, 98/100
