Mullineux Granite Chenin Blanc 2018

Vineyards

Grapes for our GRANITE Chenin were sourced from a 45 year old sustainably and dry farmed bush vine vineyard named Eikelaan, planted in the decomposed GRANITE soils of the Paardeberg.  This is our highest altitude GRANITE soil vineyard and with the very deep decomposed GRANITE soils tends to produce wines with great acidity and a flinty, stony aromatic profile.

Winemaking and Maturation

Harvested by hand, grapes were whole-bunch pressed to barrel and the juice handled oxidatively. Primary and secondary fermentation completed its natural cycles without interference, after which minimal SO2 was added. The wine was left on the lees until spring. Then racked and blended just before the 2023 harvest. Bottled unfiltered.Matured for 11 months in 4th fill 225L French oak barrels.
