Naude Family Wines Grenache 2014
Vineyards
From a spectacular block and 40+ year-old vineyard in Agter-Paardeberg, this Grenache has a mind and a life of its own.
Winemaking and Maturation
With minimal intervention throughout, this petulant child has been rapidly evolving with its own ideas of where it’s going.
Tasting Notes
Notes of red cherry and cranberry and an engaging herbal character with a hint of earthiness. The palate is extraordinarily light and fresh with very fine tannins. It seems to grow in complexity and interest all the time, and is now showing a floral nose, wild strawberry, fragrant spice and an earthy, meaty intensity.
The wine is known for its rich fruit flavours such as red and dark berries, spices like pepper and sometimes a hint of leather or tobacco. The wine has been aged for a few years and has had time to develop more complex flavours and aromas, and a good balance of acidity and tannins.
