Vineyards
The 2022 Full on Misfit white blend is a wine from 4 different vineyards, located beteween 15 and 25 kilometres from the Atlantic ocean. The vineyards stretch from Vredendal to Koekenaap. These Vineyards were planted between 1986 and 2017 on Sandstone and silt soils.
Winemaking and Maturation
Grapes were picked early in the morning to preserve freshness, then cooled down before being crushed the next morning.
All the grapes were picked and whole bunch pressed separately before being spontaneously fermented and aged in 500 litre barrels. After 9 months in barrel, with regular battonage, the final blend was made up and left for another month in blended form to settle.
Bottled with the addition of a little sulphur, unfined and unfiltered.
Tasting Notes
Floral, lime, yellow fruits , minerals, Kelp. On the mouth there is an intense sensation of saltiness with hints of lime and grapefruit coming through.
Technical Details
54% Chenin blanc, 22% Colombar, 18% Macabeo and 6% Muscat d Alexandrie.
ALC: 12.69% TA: 7.0 RS: 1.6 PH: 3.25
Ageing Potential: With the low PH, low intervention and high natural acidity, plus the added ageing in barrel, this wine will age for 5 to 7 years.
