Winemaking and Maturation
Terracura was born out of the Swartland Revolution. Michael Roets purchased a concrete egg at the Swartland Revolution in 2010.
The Silwervis Chenin Blanc was released for the first time in 2011. Ryan Mostert joined the team as a winemaker in 2014 and held the position until 2021. In 2022, Chris Groenewald took over winemaking, taking the label to new heights.
The focus is – healthy soil, natural winemaking, and bottling something unique.
Tasting Notes
‘Full yellow in colour, this has lovely depth and complexity. It’s rich but fresh with a citrus edge to the pear and apple fruit, showing nice intensity. Such drinkability and pleasure here with a wide dynamic range. Finishes with marmalade and dried herbs, with some lemony brightness.’ – Jamie Goode, wineanorak.com, 93/100
‘46% Chenin Blanc, 15% Colombar, 9% Clairette Blanche, 9% Sauvignon Blanc, 9% Semillon, 6% Grenache and 6% Palomino. 52% of the wine from 2023, 48% from 2022. 10% skin contact. Potpourri, hay, pear, peach, citrus and a hint of bee’s wax on the nose. Light and fresh with a salty finish. A wine that moves well from entry to finish and has impressive detail. Alc: 11.5%.’ – Christian Eedes, Winemag.co.za, 92/100
