product description

Terracura White Chenin Blanc 2017

Vineyards

Paardeberg, Swartland, South Africa. Two bush-vine vineyards planted in 1981 and 1983 grow on decomposed granite. One occupies an exposed ridge, while the other lies lower in a valley.

Winemaking and Maturation

Hand-harvested grapes were whole-bunch pressed into older French oak barrels and fermented naturally. The wine matured for 12 months before being racked off its lees, with a small sulphur addition at bottling.

Tasting Notes

Pear and lemon peel are complemented by chamomile, fennel and mandarin. Subtle ginger and floral notes add complexity, while fresh acidity and a saline texture shape the finish.

Tasting note paraphrased from Terracura’s 2017 vintage notes.

Vintage rating: 96/100 — Christian Eedes, Winemag, 2018.
