CHIARA CONDELLO

"I would love to produce a wine that expresses the high potential of my land, releasing it from all things not essential."

Le Lucciole was born from Chiara Condello’s awareness of being a custodian of wine-growing history handed down over hundreds of years in the Predappio Hills and her desire to give a revolutionary interpretation to this unique and generous land.

Condello works following a simple, yet poignant, concept “I would love to produce a wine that expresses the high potential of my land, releasing it from all things not essential. A Sangiovese that returns exactly my ideas of winemaking”.

She has chosen a little piece of land close to a forest, in the heart of the Predappio Appellation, 300 meters above sea level. The vines are deeply rooted in poor calcareous-clay soil, rich in Pliocenic sandstone called Spungone, a seabed three million years ago.

Chiara Condello seeks, the authentic expression of her land, its history, its soul. She imagines a bright, pure wine, born from its terroir and the unrepeatable conditions of each vintage. To reach that, she has decided to work simply, following the dictates of organic viticulture and artisanal winery management.

Following a clear path; organic viticulture and fertilisation, attention to detail and respect for the plants and the soil, manual work, weeding by hand and very low use of sulphur and copper for pest control.

The wines of Chiara Condello are nothing short of magnificent, a true talent in the world of winemaking.
