DHONDT-GRELLET
Domaine Dhondt-Grellet was conceived in 1985 by Eric Dhondt and Edith Grellet. The heart of the Domaine beats in Flavigny, the centre of the Côte des Blancs. Dhondt-Grellet is a small family-run estate, farming both biodynamically and organically. Eric and Edith’s son – Adrien – has headed the Domaine since 2010 and has been instrumental in catapulting the estate into stratospheric heights.
Adrien Dhondt took the helm at 26. He is a self-taught winemaker who draws on his observations and experiences to follow a somewhat Burgundian approach.
The Dhondt-Grellet estate boasts several prized lieux-dits with old vines in the Côte des Blancs, namely – Les Nogers in Cuis, Les Longues in Verges, La Garenne and the prized Le Bâteau in Cramant.
Adrien picks later than his peers, ensuring ripeness and power in his base wines. The base wines see élevage in oak and very low dosage levels. The resulting Champagnes of Dhondt-Grellet are incredibly complex, textured and powerful, balancing the tightrope with high acidity, focus and minerality. The wines are multi-layered and incredibly vinous.
