PIERRE-VINCENT GIRARDIN
Young Gun of Meursault
Pierre-Vincent’s parents Vincent & Véronique GIRARDIN passed on their passion about wine and terroir to him with a few hectares of vineyards. As of now, the Domaine is made of 4,5 hectares spread between regional, village, premier-cru and grand-cru. He grows his vineyards organically to respect and promote the terroir and the local environment. All year long, he works in the vineyards of his partners, from whom he purchases grapes directly at the harvest. This strategy enables complete control and the wines’ style comes directly from the grapes.
Pierre-Vincent spent the last three years working alongside his father both in the vineyard and in the cellar to observe different techniques, refine his tastes and improve his technical skills with the aim of finding and creating his own style for both red and white wines.
After several tests on different wines, he has realised that the best way to achieve the balance between minerality, terroir expression and freshness is to use tailor-made 456L barrels (from François Frères and Chassin). During these tests he has also decided that he will not be filtrating or fining (“collage processing”) the red wines.
Pierre-Vincent works in a modern and styled cellar in Meursault that fits in the local surroundings while being highly functional.
