FONTODI
Fontodi has belonged to the Manetti family since 1968. For centuries, the family has been associated with another craft typical of the Chianti region—the production of terracotta.
It is because of this strong link with the territory and a great passion for quality that the estate has successfully moved towards ever-more-attentive vineyard cultivation and a more profound knowledge of the potential of Sangiovese in the zone of Panzano in Chianti.
Fontodi, a certified organic estate, sprawls over 130 hectares, with approximately 70 dedicated to vineyards. The agricultural practices here are not just a trend but a way of life inspired by the principles of nature and sustainability. No chemical products are used, and every effort is made to use each part of the wine growing cycle for composting, biomass and wood to heat the homes on the estate, reducing the need for external inputs. This commitment to the environment results in wines that are not just better, higher-quality and purer but a true reflection of the grape and the unique terroir of Panzano in Chianti.
Vinification and ageing take place in the modern cellar, built on descending levels making use of gravity flow instead of pumps. Ageing is completed in French Oak and Terracotta Amphorae, which are made by the Manetti Family’s historic business. This delicate process guarantees the most respect possible for the grape’s natural integrity, exalting the wines’ character and elegance.
