PEYRE ROSE

Tucked away in the rugged hills of Saint-Pargoire in the Languedoc, Domaine Peyre Rose is one of France’s most enigmatic and revered cult estates. Founded and run by the reclusive and visionary Marlène Soria, the domaine has earned a near-mythical reputation for producing age-worthy, biodynamically farmed wines of immense depth and complexity.

Peyre Rose defies regional expectations. While technically classified under the Languedoc appellation, the wines transcend their origin, often compared to the greats of the Rhône and Bordeaux. Marlène’s philosophy is uncompromising: low yields, meticulous vineyard work, and extended élevage in both tank and bottle (often 10+ years before release). As a result, the wines are released only when she deems them ready, offering a rare window into mature, expressive Mediterranean reds.

The range includes the brooding, Syrah-dominant Clos des Cistes, the rich and powerful Belle Léone, and the more supple, Grenache-led Marlène No. 3. Each bottling showcases a remarkable balance of concentration, freshness, and finesse—wines that speak more of timeless character than fleeting fashion.

With production volumes limited and vintages released years after harvest, Peyre Rose is a domaine for the patient collector, the terroir purist, and anyone who values authenticity over hype.
