DOMAINE ROSTAING

René Rostaing, the nephew of famed Côte Rôtie producer – Marius Gentaz stands as a staunch traditionalist.  Whole bunch fermentation and minimal use of new oak, have for years resulted in some of the Côte Rôtie’s most intense, vital and sought-after wines.

René’s son, Pierre took the helm in the 2015 vintage. He has kept his father’s style, 90-100% whole bunch ferment and less than 10% new oak ageing, whilst adding additional precision, refinement and intensity to the Rostaing wines.

The Cuvée Ampodium is a blend dominated by the produce of La Viaillère and Tupin that always shows a hallmark refinement and juiciness. The La Landonne is typically muscular and unrelenting when young but develops into a whole spectrum of savoury meat and fruit flavours. The Côte Blonde goes against the grain of the widespread clichés about the effeminacy and delicacy of wines from Côte Blonde. Dense, concentrated and intense, this wine requires slightly longer barrel maturation than the others. Chiselled, this wine offers a saline chalkiness to the brambly fruit.

The Domaine Rostaing has become one of the most respected estates in the region.
