ROC D'ANGLADE
In the wild, sun-soaked heart of the Languedoc lies Roc d’Anglade, the life’s work of Rémy Pedreno. A perfectionist winemaker who believes that true greatness comes not from formula but from intuition, patience, and trust in the land.
Working biodynamically in the windswept terraces around Langlade, Rémy focuses on old-vine Carignan, Grenache, and other southern varieties, coaxing wines of startling finesse and complexity from them. Rather than sheer power, Roc d’Anglade pursues balance: shimmering aromatics, lifted red fruits, fine-grained tannins, and a stony, saline edge that speaks of the region’s limestone soils.
Fermentation is spontaneous with indigenous yeasts; élevage is thoughtful and unhurried, typically in large old barrels to avoid overt oak influence. Whites, crafted from rare local varieties, are equally compelling, offering an intricate, textural, mineral style that rivals the great wines of the northern Rhône.
Highly sought after yet resolutely personal, Roc d’Anglade is not simply another Languedoc estate. It is a singular vision, a testament to what the south of France can achieve in the hands of a truly committed vigneron.
