GEORGES CHICOTOT
In existence since 1678, Domaine Chicotot is a family-owned estate located in the heart of Nuits-St-Georges. Tiny in size at just over 7 hectares, the estate produces wines organically with very little intervention in the cellar. Their bottlings include Bourgogne Rouge, Ladoix Village, and several cuvées of Nuits-St-Georges Villages (Aux Allots, Les Charmottes, Plants au Baron, Vieilles Vignes) and Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru (Les Rues de Chaux, Les Pruliers, Aux Toreys, Les Vaucrains, and Les Saint Georges). All wines are aged for at least 2 years in the cellar with 6 months bottle ageing.
The current winemaker is the Alsatian-born Pascale Chicotot. Originally a banker, her life changed when she met Georges Chicotot during a trip to the estate in the early 1990s. They soon married and started making wine together – starting in 1993, Pascale was responsible for the vinifications. In 2008 Georges retired, after which Pascale took over as winemaker and manager of Domaine Chicotot, aided by their son Clément.
The wines of Domaine Chicotot exemplify the village of Nuits-Saint-Georges. They are beautifully structured and incredibly well crafted, often beguiling with haunting aromatics and built to age.
