Anne-Françoise Gros and François Parent founded Domaine A.F. Gros in Pommard in 1988. The estate brings together the historic Gros and Parent families. Today, their children Caroline and Mathias Parent use generations of local knowledge to make Burgundy with elegance, depth and a clear sense of place.

Vineyards

Les Arvelets climbs a steep, south-facing slope on the northern side of Pommard. Its clay and limestone soil also contains iron-rich material, river stones and silt. These soils give Pinot Noir both firm structure and a clear mineral note. As a result, the wine combines strength with freshness.

Winemaking and Maturation

First, the team removes the stems from the Pinot Noir. Then, a short cold soak draws out colour and aroma before fermentation in concrete and wooden vats. Next, the team matures the 2022 for about 18 months in French oak. They use a generous share of new barrels, yet the fruit absorbs the oak well. Finally, the long maturation softens the wine's firm structure.

Tasting Notes

The aroma starts with cool red berries, blackcurrant and flowers. Then, a light stony note adds depth. The medium-bodied palate feels lively and focused, with fresh acidity and smooth-edged tannins. Meanwhile, the oak stays behind the fruit. Finally, a firm and savoury finish shows the wine's youthful character.
