Anne-Françoise Gros and François Parent founded Domaine A.F. Gros in Pommard in 1988. The estate brings together the historic Gros and Parent families. Today, their children Caroline and Mathias Parent use generations of local knowledge to make Burgundy with elegance, depth and a clear sense of place.

Vineyards

Les Arvelets occupies a steep, south-facing slope at the northern edge of Pommard's main valley. Clay, limestone, iron-rich stones and silt shape the vineyard. These soils give the wine a firm frame and a clear mineral note. Meanwhile, the sunny aspect helps the Pinot Noir ripen evenly.

Winemaking and Maturation

First, the team removes the stems. Then, a short cold soak prepares the fruit for fermentation. Gentle work in the vat protects the perfume and fine tannins. Next, the team matures the wine in French oak. Finally, they adjust the time and new-oak level to suit the Premier Cru and the vintage.

Tasting Notes

Dark cherry, plum and blackcurrant lead the aroma. In addition, sage, rosemary, earth and soft smoke add a savoury edge. The medium-bodied palate feels lively, with ripe tannins and deep dark fruit. However, a strong mineral line keeps the wine focused. Finally, the long and firm finish points to good ageing potential.
