Antoine Jobard represents the fifth generation of this Meursault family. First, he worked alongside his father, François, and then took full responsibility for the domaine. Today, he makes focused white Burgundy and also works organic Pinot Noir parcels in Beaune, Volnay and Pommard.

Vineyards

Jobard makes this village Pommard from organic Pinot Noir parcels. He took a long lease on the vineyards from the former Domaine André Mussy in 2019. Pommard's clay and limestone soil gives the wine natural depth and structure. Meanwhile, careful farming keeps the fruit fresh and clear.

Winemaking and Maturation

First, Jobard removes all the stems. Then, he gives the grapes a five-day cold soak and about ten days of fermentation. Next, he matures the wine in barrel for 12 months. He limits new oak to 20%, so the Pinot Noir fruit and Pommard character lead. Finally, the oak adds gentle spice without hiding the wine.

Tasting Notes

Black cherry and raspberry form the heart of the 2022. In addition, sweet spice, earth and light toasted oak add depth. The first sip feels firm yet smooth, with silky tannins and plenty of freshness. Meanwhile, the fruit keeps the wine bright. Finally, a long and gently spicy finish balances power with grace.
