Charles Heidsieck selects most of the fruit from Grand Cru and Premier Cru vineyards. The blend features grapes from Ambonnay, Tauxières, Vertus, Bouzy, Verzy and Trigny.

Winemaking and Maturation

The 2018 growing season brought heavy rain and storms during spring, followed by a hot, dry summer. The warm conditions accelerated ripening, while the healthy grapes retained freshness, elegance and generous fruit character.

Charles Heidsieck combines 55% Pinot Noir and 45% Chardonnay in the final blend. After the second fermentation, the wine matures on its lees for five years in the House’s historic chalk cellars. A dosage of 8g/L balances the ripe fruit with the wine’s vibrant freshness.

Tasting Notes

The wine shows a luminous golden colour and fine, energetic bubbles. The nose starts quietly before revealing cocoa, coffee, brioche, quince and pineapple. Swirling the glass brings forward peach, apricot and blackberry preserve.

The palate feels round, generous and concentrated, with layers of juicy fruit and finely balanced freshness. Cocoa, liquorice and a gentle bitterness shape the vibrant, mineral finish.
