Domaine de la Romanée-Conti need no introduction or explanation. The farming and vineyard practices are biodynamic. In the cellar, there is no compromise, and very classically whole-bunch fermentation occurs.
Tasting Notes
Domaine de la Romanée-Conti – or simply ‘DRC’ – is undoubtedly one of the most prestigious wine producers in the world. Unlike other great Burgundy estates, Romanée-Conti’s strategy has always been to focus on a small number of grand cru vineyards, such as Grands-Echézeaux, where they own a 3.52-hectare plot.
The 2011 vintage offers some lovely aromas of spices, wildflowers, stony minerals and smoked meaty undertones. On the palate, this is a muscular wine featuring red and dark berries, cherries, pomegranate and cranberries, all leading to a deep and profound peppery finish.
