Vineyards
La Viallière, Ampuis, Côte-Rôtie, northern Rhône, France. This single-site Syrah comes from steep slopes with mica-schist soils. The estate began planting the site in 2003.
Winemaking and Maturation
The fruit is harvested by hand and fully destemmed. Fermentation and maceration are followed by maturation in demi-muids, larger oak barrels that help develop texture without overwhelming the fruit.
Tasting Notes
Ripe cherry, violet and a smoky note lead into hints of cocoa. The palate has a rounded, velvety texture, with supple tannins and a savoury finish.
