Winemaking and Maturation
Krug 2008 is the beautifully contrasted story of one of Champagne’s coolest vintages in 14 years, and the least sunny in almost half a century. The absence of extremes in 2008 provided ideal circumstances for the creation of a timeless vintage. Balancing structure and finesse, this champagne is nicknamed “Classic Beauty” by the Tasting Committee.
With elegance and depth, Krug 2008 is a blend of Pinot Noir (53%), Meunier (25%), and Chardonnay (22%).
Tasting Notes
‘Pale golden yellow, silver reflections, fine, lively and persistent mousse. Initially fresh baked goods, cookie and almonds, in the background acacia honey and blossom, fine nuances of candied lime zest, ripe cherries and oranges in the background, symphonic bouquet.
A rich texture that conveys great freshness, taut chalkiness combines with fruity acidity, appears young and taut, shows a deep finish with enormous length; all true Champagne lovers have rightly been looking forward to this classic beauty.Lively, complex and precise, carried by an incredible lightness and offering great drinking pleasure. Champagne doesn't get any better than this.’ – Falstaff, 100/100
