Settebello Restaurant
“Not only did they win best Pizza in Johannesburg, but they have just launched their new wine menu which includes Charles Heidsieck, Tanzanite, Capelands, Hasher, Rebel Rebel, Lenuzza, Angus Paul and Sakkie Mouton wines to name a few. You can sip on a great wine whilst enjoying some of the best pizza Joburg has to offer and for the non pizza lovers, they have you covered with a wide variety on their food offering. I personally enjoy the Lenuzza Pinot Noir with the classic Margarita Pizza, it is a light Red that can be enjoyed at anytime of the day, alternatively the Tanzanite Brut Cap Classique always goes down a treat whilst sitting at one of the outside tables with friends.” by Sanchia.
Proud Mary
“Elevated-comfort-food with an exceptional wine offering makes Proud Mary a solid recommendation for anyone visiting Johannesburg and looking for good food, good libations and superb hospitality. Fantastic ambiance, helpful staff and ‘just-right-portions’ make a long lunch or dinner worthwhile. Ask Katlego or as she’s fondly called ‘ Kat’ for appropriate wine recommendations to go with your meals. I personally enjoy a bottle of the Minimalist Connect the Dots Syrah by Sam Lambson; try it with the Steak Frite – you won’t be disappointed. Proud Mary is located in the Hyde Building in Rosebank, which houses the Hyde Hotel, a co-working space in Workshop 17 as well as a speakeasy concept called Nine Lives. So, start your day at Workshop 17 upstairs, Lunch or Dinner at Proud Mary downstairs and finish the evening with a nightcap at Nine Lives speakeasy.” by Marumo.

“I love authentic Italian food on any given day, but Dolci does it the right way. I enjoy a glass or more of the Capelands Sauvignon Blanc along with my meal every time I go there. The floral inspired interior and art on the walls have me admiring the space for my entire visit.” by Tamelyn.

“Location, Art, History, immaculate Service, Spa, Hotel and Restaurant…what more could I say, but if you have not yet had the opportunity to browse ‘The Book’ you are surely missing out on what is probably the best wine offering in SA! I can personally recommend two of my favorite Burgundy wines to enjoy whilst sitting either in the lush bar or out on the beautifully tranquil terrace, the Simon Colin Bourgogne Chardonnay 2023 and the Louis Boillot Gevrey-Chambertin Village 2023.” by Sanchia.

“I’d recommend WineBar in Kramerville inside the Father Coffee HQ. They have a smaller presence inside the Rosebank Father Coffee location. Working off the concept of proper third spaces, WineBar draws its ethos and energy from the coffee meets – wine bar movements from Europe; using the in-built community of coffee lovers, remote working and those curious about natural wine as their customer base. Given their link to Father Coffee, WineBar has incredible pastries and baked goods on offer as well, with the ta Sourdough bread. This allows for the early rises to grab a breakfast of poached eggs on tomato sugo with chilli flakes, basil oil, for di latte on garlic butter sourdough – with the best coffee in town. If you’re like me and love a good Lunch, then grab beef smashed burger with American cheese on a potato bun with a glass of Rebel Rebel Cinsault Pet Nat by Kayleigh Hatting. The team at WineBar focuses on a curated offering of wine producers that specialise in minimal intervention wine and unique varietals. Ask for Sayda or Kelsey for absolutely killer wine recommendations. “Vee & Forti wine bar & Liquor emporium has something for every wine drinker, whether you are getting into wines for the first time, busy with wine studies or have been enjoying wines for many a year, they will have something for you. I love shopping at Vee & Forti for their endless variety on the boutique estates spectrum and their energetic and super friendly service. They are my go-to spot to pick up my Sakkie Mouton Gerookte Snoek red.” by Tamelyn.
