Le Macchiole Bolgheri Rosso 2023

Le Macchiole Bolgheri Rosso 2023 brings together Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah from Tuscany’s coastal wine region. Fresh fruit, gentle tannins and lively acidity make this Italian red an inviting introduction to the estate.

Vineyards

The grapes come from four estate vineyards: Vignone, Casa Nuova, Sommi and Puntone. These plantings date from 1999 to 2020.

Throughout the season, the team works by hand, from pruning through to harvest. Meanwhile, dense planting helps control vine growth and keeps yields low.

Winemaking and Maturation

The team fermented the grapes in steel tanks, keeping the juice in contact with the skins for around 15 days.

Next, the wine matured for 10 months. The estate aged 70% in oak barriques on their third or fourth use, while the remaining 30% rested in concrete. Finally, the team bottled the 2023 vintage in January 2025.

Tasting Notes

Fresh fruit aromas lead the way, with notes of plum, cherry and delicate flowers. On the palate, juicy fruit meets gentle yet firm tannins. Meanwhile, bright acidity brings balance and keeps the wine lively.

Together, these qualities create a refined, approachable red with plenty of character.
