Marlène Soria created Peyre Rose on the heights above Saint-Pargoire and harvested her first wine grapes in 1988. Today, garrigue surrounds the organically farmed estate and protects its distinctive setting. She gives the wines exceptionally long cellar ageing, mainly in tanks and large old foudres. As a result, each release reaches the market with mature complexity and notable freshness.

Vineyards

Marlène No. 3 comes from the estate's third major planting rather than a lesser wine. Grenache plays a larger role here and joins Syrah on stony Languedoc slopes. The blend gains ripe fruit and warmth from Grenache, while Syrah supplies structure and spice. As a result, the cuvée offers a distinct voice within the Peyre Rose range.

Winemaking and Maturation

First, the team hand-picks the biodynamically farmed grapes. Then, partial destemming, an extended maceration and pump-overs develop the wine's colour and depth. Next, the wine spends several years in tank, with about one quarter in large foudre. Finally, patient bottle ageing integrates the firm tannins.

Tasting Notes

The 2005 starts with black cherry, plum and ripe red berries. Then, pepper, tobacco, truffle and coffee create a complex savoury layer. The palate feels full and velvety, with sweet dark fruit wrapped around firm tannins. Meanwhile, leather, game and a light iodine note add character. Finally, the finish feels powerful, aromatic and long.
