Marlène Soria created Peyre Rose on the heights above Saint-Pargoire and harvested her first wine grapes in 1988. Today, garrigue surrounds the organically farmed estate and protects its distinctive setting. She gives the wines exceptionally long cellar ageing, mainly in tanks and large old foudres. As a result, each release reaches the market with mature complexity and notable freshness.

Vineyards

Marlène No. 3 comes from a separate stony clay-limestone site at Peyre Rose. Syrah and Grenache grow together in the vineyard, with Grenache taking a larger share than in the estate's other reds. This combination gives dark fruit, spice and a supple centre. However, the rocky ground preserves the cuvée's freshness and structure.

Winemaking and Maturation

First, the team harvests the certified organic and biodynamic fruit by hand. Then, partial destemming and an extended maceration build depth. Next, controlled pump-overs shape the tannins without masking the fruit. Finally, several years in tank and large foudre, followed by bottle ageing, create a smooth, harmonious texture.

Tasting Notes

The 2016 opens with blackberry, plum and dark cherry. In addition, damp woodland, cigar box, eucalyptus and fresh garrigue bring complex savoury tones. The palate feels silky and balanced, with soft tannins and a lively core. Meanwhile, cool herbal notes lift the ripe fruit. Finally, the finish feels deep, fresh and quietly spicy.
